Join us for a powerful artist talk with Laura James on November 21st, 6-8 PM at Minnie Park Art Project, as she discusses her two latest works featured in our current exhibition, Vulnerable States: Reshaping the Unseen. These pieces confront themes of race and reparations, offering a bold reflection on the enduring struggle for justice and equality. Through vibrant colors and compelling symbolism, Laura addresses the need to confront historical injustices while envisioning a future grounded in respect and repair. Her work captures the resilience and strength of those who push back against oppression, creating space for honest dialogue and healing.
Guided by Rebecca Allan, the conversation will delve into Laura’s inspirations, her creative process, and her vision for art as a tool for activism and community healing. This talk provides a unique opportunity to explore Laura’s thoughts on the role of art in reshaping narratives and advocating for change. Whether you’re passionate about art’s social impact or curious about the stories behind her evocative work, this will be an evening of meaningful dialogue.

Great presentation at the Sisters of St. Joseph at Corondolet. It was a gift to see your work with your beautiful presentation. Your talk – we are all human ! and your philosphy is beautiful and we need to hear it and proclaim it. Thank you for your presence and see your work. I hope to meet you in person one day soon!
Do you have any work in the New England area?
I’m a lay associate with the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston. Our charism is “Unifying Love and the care of the Dear Neighbor.” We continue to find common ground in these times of change and transition.
The feast day for the Sisters of St. Joseph is March 19. I would love to introduce your work to the CSJs for our celebration of the Feast of St. Joseph. Would it be possible to get a print of St. Joseph to put display at the mass? and possibly make prayer cards?
I love the piece of Jesus walking with the women! That was great insight! Touching because most of the events I go to are 95% women! Women are sometimes too humble! 🙂
Thank you for your presence – You are a gift!
Blessings on our continued journey Love you Michele
PS This is a Jubilee year of HOPE and also the 800th Anniversary of the Canticle of Creation – St. Francis of Assisi. Have you painted Francis?
